4th of July Update

This is starting out to be a GREAT holiday. Early this morning my family headed to over to Whitland Avenue for their annual Independence Day parade. For my readers who don't live in Tennessee, the Whitland parade has been a 4th of July tradition in Nashville for over 20 years. Picture politicians campaigning, a neighborhood symphony playing patriotic tunes and children cruising the street on streamer-laden bikes and scooters. Quite Norman Rockwell-esque.

This year, a special "celebrity guest" judged the food competition. It was Arnold Myint of Bravo's Top Chef! Even though he walked right past me two different times, I was too embarrassed to ask him to take a picture with me. I did manage to snap a shot of him announcing the winners!

I just scarfed down a lunch of BBQ ribs and watermelon and am looking forward to watching fireworks later tonight.  I don't think this day could get any better!
