It's Electric, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Somewhere between robin's egg and turquoise is electric blue, and celebs are flocking to this hue in a big way. An unusual color for summer, electric blue has become a staple with the Hollywood elite on the red carpet and on the streets. Whether it's a daring halter dress like on Chloe Sevigny or a casual tunic like seen on Kate Hudson, there seems to be no limits to where this color can go.

For me, there is something about this color that hearkens back to the late 1980's and early 1990's...it's almost neon in nature. This used to be one of my favorite colors to wear in scrunchie and sock form, and I am pleased to see its' return. This is actually a fabulous color for a variety of skin tones, and is especially great for showing of a summer glow.

Think that an electric blue frock may be hard to find anywhere past Rodeo Drive? Think again...LeFashionista has you covered, and at a price tag way below what the celebs might pay. If you are eager to try out this trend, then check out Misile's "Addressed to You" sun dress, now on sale. Cute a la carte, or with a pair of jeans, this is the perfect way to dip your toes in the electric blue water.

The Mini Debate, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Cameron Diaz (source)

This weekend, a newly blonde again Cameron Diaz stepped out in a super cute Kelly Bergin minidress over skinny Corpus jeans. Now, normally, this look would irk me, and I would scold Cameron for hiding her obviously killer legs when she could be showing them off.

However, I think that for once, I actually like the dress over jeans combo in this case. Why does it work? Well, for one, Cam's mini is just that, mini, and doesn't have a whole lot of volume or extra fabric. It's a cute, solid colored streamlined minidress that isn't flowy and has just enough detail at the neckline to keep you interested, plus it is paired with an equally skinny pair of jeans. If this dress was any longer or fuller, it may not work as well. Paired with minimal accessories and super cute animal print open toed shoes, I'd say we have a winner!

Want to try out the minidress over jeans look for yourself? Look for mini styles, (this means well above the knee, and fitting snugly against the bod) in solid colors for the best results, and pair with skinny jeans and a heel.

Celeb Bathing Suit Style, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Cameron Diaz

Kate Bosworth

Sienna Miller

It's no secret that most celebs have to work long and hard for their killer bods, and the fruits of their labor is on full display every summer. It's officially bathing suit season and as usual, everything goes from nautical stripes to colorful combinations and of course, the classic black bikini.

One of the best things about a swimsuit is that, if properly cared for, it can last for years and continue to be worn well beyond its first swimsuit season. Sure, you can go to a variety of stores and pick up a low quality swimsuit for under $50, but it may not have the kind of longevity you are looking for.

Geftaki Swimsuits are the perfect answer for anyone wanting to marry fashion with function in their swim wear. Totally unique, Geftaki uses hand embroidery, Swarovski crystals and a variety of other high quality embellishments to create to most artful and jaw dropping designs ever to grace the shore. Check them out today on LeFashionista for some great summer swim suit inspiration.

What's New This Week at Life & Style?

Shiny and sexy, the hottest trend going in cocktail dresses is of the strapless variety. Bold colors and sweetheart necklines dominate this haute trend, but Liv Tyler shows them all how it's really done in a gorgeous two-toned asymmetrical style. Want to really punch it up? Add a unique piece of "statement jewelry" for extra sparkle.

Do they have the same stylist? Sometimes celebs seem to mirror each others looks, whether unwittingly or on purpose. However, some stars just know how to pull off certain styles better than others. Exotic leather handbags, bold jungle cocktail rings and wayfarer sunglasses are back in a big way...but which celeb pulled off the look best? Personally, I think it's no contest with Gwen...she owns the safari look hands down.

Spring is in the air, so it should be no surprise that A-list toes are busting out of winter shoes. It is my happy duty to report that sandal season has officially begun, and lucky you, there are tons of cute styles to choose from! Ankle straps and espadrilles dominate this spring, and Life & Style has the inside scoop on the top ten best selling sandals of this week.

One of the most surprising looks this spring has to be silver! Celebs like Jessica Biel and Lindsay Lohan are crazy about this metallic trend that is showing up everywhere from dresses and bags to shoes, accessories and more. Add a little silver to your wardrobe for extra shine throughout the day.

Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan and Cameron Diaz all took their runway looks to the street in their own realist interpretations. Check out how these starlets added their own interpretation to catwalk couture and made it their own.

So many trends, so many days of the week...see how your favorite stars incorporated some of the hottest trends of the season in their looks this week. Mischa wore gingham, Brook Shields in a gold jacket and Paris in natural prints...this should be enough trends to keep anyone busy!
