Hats and Fascinators of the Royal Wedding

I know I'm a day late, but I couldn't leave the Royal Wedding frenzy without doing a post on the fabulous headwear of the event. As many of you know, women attending the wedding were asked to wear a hat or fascinator, and the fashion was fabulous. Here are my favorites:

As you can see, I was less than fond of Eugenie and Beatrice's over-the-top fascinators. What were your favorite looks from yesterday's royal affair?

Princess Catherine

By now, I'm sure y'all have all seen Catherine in her gorgeous Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown. I think she looked absolutely stunning, and a bit reminiscent of Grace Kelly's lace wedding dress.

It's such a happy day for William and Kate. And a fabulous day for British fashion. Be sure to check back later today for my favorite hats and fascinators from the event.

Once upon a problem

A friend of mine recently participated in a photo shoot with budding photographer Kirstie Jeffrey that explores the pressure college women feel to be perfect, and the toxic results of this quest for perfection. Using Disney's canon of princesses as inspiration for these troubled portraits, Jeffrey created a series of images that are far too close a representation of reality. I was absolutely stunned by the contrast of these photos and just had to share my favorites here. Click over to Kirstie's website for the full project.

An Evening with Emily Giffin

Last night I had the incredible opportunity to meet New York Times best-selling novelist and Wake Forest alumna Emily Giffin. Author of books like Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof, Love the One You're With and most recently The Heart of the Matter, Giffin was simultaneously hilarious and inspiring. As an aspiring writer, I loved how candid she was about the publishing process, while still remaining positive about the industry.

I'm so excited for her first movie-adaptation to come out. Something Borrowed starring Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin and John Krasinski comes out in May, and Giffin couldn't have spoken higher of the film.
